We are a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving the economic well-being of citizens and to enhancing the community features in Montgomery County, Illinois.
Since the Corporation's founding in October 2004, the member-elected board of directors has spear-headed a number of initiatives to focus on retaining and expanding existing businesses and developing and promoting sites for new businesses and industry.
Our economic development programs and services include working with communities to complete and to update their business and residential capacity information; hosting a small business seminar to provide expertise in starting a business and to provide resources and networking opportunities to existing small businesses; coordinating with local property owners and representatives, utility providers and the State of Illinois to list potential business sites in a central, web-based database; and communicating trends or concepts to aid small businesses through a quarterly newsletter that is published in cooperation with the University of Illinois Montgomery County Extension Unit. Corporation members receive additional information through a monthly chairman's letter and some member-only opportunities.
We are planning additional economic development offerings to focus on creating a culture of entrepreneurship in the are through in-school educational programs, specialized financial packages, increased networking opportunities, and other incubation tools.
Our community development programs and services are focused on increasing the visibility of existing events and working with agencies and institutions that offer social services to continually improve the quality of our workforce and the amenities in our county. We have hosted a brownfield redevelopment workshop with the result of individual landowners and communities working directly with Illinois EPA to pursue clean up of former business and industry sites. We are working with communities to promote their existing festivals through a countywide calendar of events to publish on the website and through a brochure.
